Intro To Playwriting
Come learn about the generative side of the theatrical arts! Learn about dramatic structures and theatrical elements then use them to develop your own scripts for the stage or film! In this course you will gain all the necessary skills needed to write monologues, scenes, and be able to structure them together to write and sell your own plays. If you are more interested in just being involved in the theatrical arts than this course will greatly develop your script analysis skills and make watching theatre all the more enjoyable! We will be utilizing guided writing prompts to explore structures and elements, workshops to develop editing skills, and feedback sessions utilizing Liz Lerman’s critical response process to further understand your work and the work of others.
Riley Newsome is a theatreand film actor. After receiving a BA in Theatre Performance from Huntington University, Riley moved to Fayetteville for an MFA in Acting and has taught Acting 1 and Theatre Appreciation at the University of Arkansas. He also has fight certifications in Unarmed Stage Combat, Small Sword, Basic Whip Skills, and is also a skilled ukulele player and proficient at guitar.
