Sundays – Chris Shields

Professor, fiction author, and dog lover, Chris Shields teaches beginning wheel classes at the CCC. Along with serving on the Board, Chris is a teaching artist who got started in clay by taking wheel classes at the CCC and the University of Arkansas. A late bloomer with clay, Chris is nonetheless devoted to the medium. He created a home studio and currently works with mid-fire clays and glazes. His work is available in Eureka Springs. He is in the process of expanding his home studio to include a gas kiln so that he can explore high-fire reduction work. Chris aspires to produce functional art and finds his inspiration from the beauty of the Ozarks. He and his partner have recently moved to a remote property with their dogs where they are surrounded by bluffs, trees, and water. “I love working with others; helping them to explore their artistic side—and joining them as they discover the wonders of clay.”

Teaching Artist Sangeet Gupta

Mondays – Sangeet Gupta

Originally from Fayetteville, Sangeet took his first pottery class at a small ceramics studio in Chicago in 2003.  From that moment on, he was hooked.  Over the next few years, he took numerous classes and workshops around the Midwest, before starting his own studio in Chicago with the help of two fellow potters.  Sangeet moved back to Fayetteville in 2019, and has been working to build up a new studio and his first wood fired kiln.  He is excited to share his love of clay with his students at the Community Creative Center.
